It is considered the official kickoff for the holiday shopping season and hard to ignore: Black Friday is back. At bluu, we do things a little differently as always: instead of black, we see everything blue.

Every year… Black Friday is eagerly anticipated by many consumers. No wonder: retailers outdo each other every year with discount wars and throw supposedly irresistible offers at customers. For many businesses, November and especially December weeks are indeed the most profitable of the entire year.
This weekend, you won’t find the classic “Black Friday” with massive discounts here in our webshop. But you can still stock up on a year’s worth of bluu Laundry Detergent Sheets to your heart’s content, because we have something much better: The bluufriday!
It’s bluufriday!
Did you know that with every bluu order, we donate one percent of the sale value to the organization Viva con Agua donate? Since day one, we’ve been a proud partner supporting the organization’s drinking water projects. Last year, we were able to donate over CHF 20,000.- alone, giving 800 people across various Viva con Agua projects access to clean drinking water, toilets, and hygiene training.
So we’re turning Black into the bluufriday, and from November 26 to 29, 2021, we’ll donate the tenfold to Viva con Agua!
This means for you: If you shop in our webshop from Friday to Monday, there’s no discount, but ten percent of your purchase goes directly to Viva con Agua.
Shop and do something good at the same time – is there anything better?
What happens with our donations this weekend*:
- With your purchase of one pack of bluu you enable a family in Mozambique to buy three bars of soap.
- The donation of three packs Laundry Detergent Sheets corresponds to the value of a tool that can be used to repair a water tap.
- When you buy six bluu boxes a family receives a dish rack for their tableware.
*Only valid from November 26 to 29, specifically for the WASH project in Mozambique.
Who is Viva con Agua, anyway?
Water, like air to breathe, is the foundation of all life and a fundamental human right. The organization Viva con Agua works toward the vision that all people have access to clean drinking water, hygiene facilities, and basic sanitation. That’s why they support water projects around the world, following the motto “Water for all – all for water.”
All donations from bluu go to a special project during the bluufriday weekend.
The WASH Project in Mozambique
Only 30% of people in rural areas of Mozambique have access to clean drinking water, and just 19% have access to sanitation facilities. It’s no surprise, then, that almost all illnesses – around 90% – stem from poor hygiene.
Viva con Agua’s project helps directly on the ground: on one hand, new water supplies are being built, and on the other, authorities, operators, and companies receive training and further education to raise hygiene awareness, so they can maintain everything themselves in the future.
A total of 175,000 people in six districts in northern Mozambique will benefit from this project and gain access to clean drinking water and sanitation facilities.

Even though we’re not participating in Black Friday in the traditional sense, we’re glad if you do something good for our planet with your purchase. On your behalf (in a symbolic way), we’ll donate the tenfold to our favorite organization Viva con Agua this special weekend – and after that, we’ll keep donating one percent per pack sold.
