  • Does it still fit me?
  • Do I still like it?

Donate your clothes or use a second-hand platform likeKleiderberg, to even earn a few extra francs. There are also greatclothing swap markets  from Walk-In Closet.

Clean the closet

If you’re already at it, you can also get rid of dust and lint from your closet right away. Use avinegar cleaner or warm soapy water. This prevents moth infestation among other things, more on that further down.

Important:Let the closet dry thoroughlybefore you put clothes back in.

Arrange clothing by season

If your closet is large enough to hold both summer and winter clothing, create more order.

The rule is: Clothing that’s currently in season, place at eye level  and where it’s easy to reach quickly.

Clothing you can’t wear right now should be placed eitherall the way at the top, all the way at the bottom, or in the second rowwhere you won’t see them right away.

Tip: Check pockets for contents before putting them away for months. You might even find some money or a piece of gum!

Sort by category

If you want to make it easy for yourself next spring, sort your clothes by category now. Put T-shirts and summer clothing on one shelf, shorts and skirts on another, and transitional clothing in a separate corner. This way you’ll find things more quickly.

Store clothing

If you have a seasonal closet, put your clothes away or store them until next spring (or winter).

Here’s how to store your clothes properly:

  • Only store clean clothing: Wash all clothing items before storing them away for an entire season. Unwashed clothing attracts moths. With thebluu-Laundry Detergent Sheets , this is done quickly.
  • Store correctly: If you’re storing the clothes in the basement, we recommend using awell-sealed box. Vacuum bags are also space-saving. Both work well against moisture and are suitable for easy-care clothing.

Make sure the clothing is completely dry before storing it!

Proper storage

The ideal storage place isdark, cool, and dry. This protects your clothes from fading, pests, and mildew.

If the clothing is somewhat more delicate, we have further Tips for you here regarding storage:

  • Hang clothes that wrinkle easily, such as shirts, blouses, or dresses.
  • Everythingthat warps easily, store flat, such as T-shirts, pants, or sweaters.
  • Store extra-delicate clothing intissue paper  or a  cotton bag , to avoid wrinkles or creases.

How to protect your clothes from moths

Clothes moths are annoying. They feed on organic residues like skin or hair flakes, which is why you must wash your clothes before storing them.

Store shoes properly

Shoes also like it dry and cool. To keep their shape, you can stuff them with newspaper or use a shoe tree for very delicate shoes. They also don’t like being too tight, so it’s better to place them next to each other rather than stacking them on top of one another.
