microplastics

Microplastics are hard, water-insoluble plastic particles smaller than 5 mm. They can hardly be seen with the naked eye, but they pollute our environment heavily.

The biggest sources of microplastics are the washing and wearing of synthetic fiber clothing (such as polyester, polyamide, acrylic and elastane) and cosmetics.

How to avoid microplastics:

  • Buy eco-friendly detergent (like bluu)
  • Prefer clothing made from natural fibers
  • Wash synthetic fabrics in a laundry bag
  • Reduce washing temperature
  • Do not use a tumble dryer
