  • 01Are the bluu wash strips fragrant?
    • Yes, our "Alpenfrische" and "Applecadabra" laundry strips have a fresh, subtle fragrance that lingers in the dried laundry for a long time. Please note: immediately after washing and when wet, the laundry smells very little or not at all, only the smell of wet laundry can be smelled. As an alternative, there is the "nonscents" variant, which does not contain any fragrances and is especially suitable for sensitive skin and baby laundry.

  • 04Is bluu the inventor of wash strip technology?
    • No, we didn't invent the technology. It has been around for many years. We are proud to have launched bluu, the first wash strip brand in Switzerland.

  • 05Can I return the products if they don't work for me?
    • We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. So if you are convinced that our bluu products do not perform as you are used to or simply do not meet your requirements, then write to us at hello@bluuwash.comundand we will refund the purchase price.

  • 06Why "bluu"?
    • bluu stands for water, purity and our blue planet. The bluu washing strips are biodegradable. The topic of water is particularly close to our hearts, which is why we have been donating 1% of our sales to our friends at the "Viva con Agua" foundation, which supports water projects in Switzerland and abroad, out of conviction since day one.

  • 07Who is behind bluu?
    • Behind bluu are Roman, Staschia and Swantje from Zurich, who have set themselves the goal of developing sustainable and practical alternatives to household items. Find out more here.

  • 08Where can I buy bluu wash strips?

  • 01Do I still need fabric softener?
    • bluu itself does not contain any fabric softeners. If you don't want to do without fabric softener, you can continue to use it. A simple substitute for fabric softener is normal white household vinegar (no vinegar essences). You can add approx. 30 - 60 ml of vinegar to the fabric softener compartment. The vinegar softens the water, disinfects and removes limescale deposits and any detergent residue from the fibers of your clothes.

  • 02Do the bluu wash strips also work in cold water?
    • Yes, the bluu wash strips are suitable for all temperatures, including cold water. To ensure washing performance, we recommend using water that is at least 15 °C warm.

  • 03Do these small washing strips work at all?
    • Yes, despite the low weight of just 3 grams, we can absolutely assure you that we have tested the washing performance thoroughly and countless times so that we can fully stand behind our product. For stubborn stains, we recommend using an additional stain remover (e.g. curd soap) before washing.

  • 04What temperatures are bluu wash strips suitable for?
    • The bluu wash strips are suitable for all temperatures from 15 - 95 °C.

  • 05I have a large washing machine (8 kg), what do I need to bear in mind?
    • If you have a large washing machine with an 8 kg washing drum, you should simply use twice the amount of washing strips indicated on the packaging as opposed to normal washing machines (4-5 kg).

  • 06Can I take bluu wash strips with me when I travel?
    • In fact, thanks to their small size and light weight, the washing strips are perfect for washing clean when traveling. They are also suitable for hand washing.

  • 07Can I also use bluu wash strips for hand washing?
    • Yes, the wash strips can be used very well for hand washing. Important: wash your hands well afterwards! For sensitive skin, we especially recommend our "nonscents" wash strips, which are free from fragrances and perfumes.

  • 08Can I also use the washing strips for silk, cashmere, down and wool?
    • Yes, the bluu washing strips can be used for all textiles, including wool, cashmere, down and silk. And for all temperatures, from 15 - 95 °C.

  • 09Can the bluu wash strips also be used for technical and breathable textiles?
    • Yes, the wash strips are suitable for all textiles. Please follow the care instructions on the garments. As the washing strips do not contain any cationic surfactants or solvents, the breathability of the textiles is not impaired.

  • 10The bluu wash strips only produce a little foam, do I need to use more wash strips?
    • No. You don't need foam for effective washing! Foam can even have negative effects because air bubbles hinder the washing effect and because it takes a lot of water to rinse out foam again and if there is too much foam, the detergent may then remain in the garments.

  • 11Do I have to take the water hardness in my region into account when dosing?
    • The water hardness has a certain influence on the washing result, but 1 - 1.5 washing strips per wash cycle are generally sufficient even in regions with high water hardness. If the washing performance is not sufficient, you can easily adjust the dosage. You can find your water hardness here: www.bluuwash.com/wasser

  • 12Does heavily soiled laundry need to be pretreated?
    • We generally recommend pretreating stains and heavily soiled laundry with our stain remover soap.

  • 13Are the bluu washing strips also suitable for allergy sufferers (detergent intolerance)?
    • bluu consists of non-ionic and anionic surfactants, and long-lasting fragrances are also used in the "Alpine freshness" variant. Although the wash strips are very mild and manufactured without bleaching agents, preservatives or parabens, we do not classify them as hypoallergenic.

In addition, the wash strips have been tested by Dermatest for tolerance and rated as "very good". They are therefore suitable for all skin types.

  • 14Are the bluu wash strips also suitable for cloth diapers?
    • You can also wash the cloth diapers with our wash strips. However, please follow the care instructions for the diapers. It is best to use our skin-friendly "nonscents" version, which does not contain any fragrances.

Optionally, we recommend adding oxygen bleach to treat germs and stains so that you don't have to wash the diapers too hot, which would massively shorten the life of the diapers.

  • 15Should I continue to use limescale remover with hard water?
    • Depending on the hardness of the water and the frequency of use of the machine, we recommend descaling every one to three months.
Our calcbusters are perfect for this. These effective and environmentally friendly washing machine descaling agents eliminate the limescale ghosts in your machine once and for all and ensure odor-free laundry.

  • 16What else do I need to bear in mind when using it?
    • bluu is a detergent that must be kept out of the reach of children and should be stored in a dry place, please follow the instructions on the packaging.

  • 17Which textiles can I wash with the bluu washing strips?
    • Our washing strips are suitable for all textiles, whether white, colored or black laundry. They can also be used for wool, silk and cashmere.

  • 18How do I proceed with the "prewash"?
    • In principle, "pre-washing" is not necessary in most cases and requires more water and energy. Instead, the stained areas can be pre-treated with a stain remover (e.g. curd soap). If you choose the prewash program anyway, half a bluu wash strip is enough to put in the prewash compartment; you can also put the other wash strips for the normal program in the compartment instead of putting them in the drum. To do this, simply tear the strips into smaller pieces.

  • 19How do I use the bluu wash strips?
    • It couldn't be simpler: open the washing machine, put the laundry in the drum, put the washing strips on top, start the machine and off you go.

  • 20How many wash strips do I need to use?
    • As a general rule: 1 wash strip for 1 load of laundry. For heavily soiled or very dirty laundry, we recommend using 1.5 or 2 strips. We also recommend increasing the quantity if the water is very hard. You can find out your water hardness here:www.bluuwash.com/wasser

  • 01Are dryer balls also suitable for the washing machine?
    • No, dryer balls are only intended for adding to the tumble dryer. They should not cause any damage in the washing machine, but they also have no positive effect. Dryer balls are often confused with washing balls or laundry balls.

  • 02How do you use dryer balls?
    • Dryer balls are simply added to the damp laundry in the tumble dryer. The usual drying program is then selected.

The addition of 4 dryer balls ensures sufficient friction. This means that the laundry dries faster as the heat is better distributed. This also creates more movement in the dryer, allowing the fibers of the laundry to unfold better and making the laundry softer and crease-free.

  • 03How do dryer balls work?
    • Dryer balls separate the laundry and allow the air in the dryer to circulate optimally between the items of laundry. This reduces the drying time by up to 25% and thus helps to save energy. The fact that the laundry does not lie as one large lump in the dryer in conjunction with the dryer balls means that fibers and down have the opportunity to straighten up and relax.

  • 04Do dryer balls stain?
    • Dryer balls from bluu should not stain. However, we advise against using tennis balls instead of dryer balls. These could indeed stain. We therefore recommend using bluu balls to be on the safe side.

  • 05Do the dryer balls help to dry down and bed linen?
    • Down typically clumps together during washing. When drying, you need to help the down to straighten up again. Put your down or quilted jacket in the dryer to dry.
Also place the 4 dryer balls from bluu in the drum. They loosen up the down and bedding during drying.

  • 06How does snO2 white work?
    • The oxygen bleach in snO2 white releases oxygen on contact with water. This oxygen dissolves stains and discolouration, brightens and neutralizes unpleasant odours - without any aggressive chemicals. It prevents gray haze and makes whites shine longer. The environmentally friendly bluu formula is gentle on the fibers and is effective from 30 °C. In addition, the enzymes and surfactants in snO2 white help to remove various types of dirt and stains, which indirectly contributes to the brightening and care of textiles.

You can find more information on use and ingredients on the product page.

  • 07Are the dryer balls also suitable for allergy sufferers?
    • Animal hair allergies are not triggered by the animal hair itself, but by certain proteins, e.g. in sweat, saliva etc. and fatty alcohols. These are no longer present in carefully treated wool. Our dryer balls should have been cleaned sufficiently to prevent this. However, a possible reaction may still occur if you are directly allergic to sheep's wool. All other allergies should not normally cause a reaction as our dryer balls are hypoallergenic.

  • 08Do I still need to use fabric softener or dryer sheets with our dryer balls?
    • No, our dryer balls act like a natural fabric softener. Both fabric softener and dryer sheets can be dispensed with. The bluu balls make the laundry soft and supple.

  • 09Can dryer balls be used for baby diapers and baby clothes?
    • Dryer balls made from natural materials such as felt or wool are ideal for baby clothes, children's clothes or diapers. The use of dryer balls made of plastic can irritate children's sensitive skin. At the high temperatures that prevail in the dryer, chemical substances can dissolve from plastic balls and pass into the laundry. This does not happen with our bluu balls.

  • 10How long do dryer balls last?
    • Our dryer balls last for approx. 1000 drying cycles.

  • 11Can you add flavors to dryer balls?
    • Yes, a few drops of essential oils on the balls make the laundry smell even more pleasant.

  • 12Do dryer balls eliminate static electricity?
    • Dryer balls do not eliminate static electricity. They only help to prevent it. Static charges are caused not only by a dry climate but also by drying in the tumble dryer for too long. Reducing static charges also helps:

      • Reducing the drying time
      • washing with pre-dosed bluu washing strips
      • Separate synthetic fabrics from the rest of the laundry
  • 13Are there any tests on the effectiveness of dryer balls?
    • Yes, dryer balls have been tested by a laboratory for their effectiveness. The test showed a reduction in drying time of up to 25%. In addition, laundry dried with dryer balls was softer and had fewer creases.

      Link to the study

  • 15Do the bluu wash strips contain harmful chemicals or microplastics?
    • No. We are proud that our bluu wash strips are free from any microplastics, parabens, optical brighteners, bleaching agents, colorants and preservatives.

  • 16Is there also a fragrance-free version of the bluu wash strips?

    • No, unlike many other comparable products, bluu washing strips contain no starch, i.e. there are no deposits in the machine and no white streaks on the laundry.

  • 18Do the bluu washing strips dissolve in the water?
    • Yes, our washing strips dissolve completely in water and are biodegradable.

  • 19Are bluu washing strips more expensive than conventional detergent?
    • The bluu washing strips cost around CHF 0.33 per wash cycle, which is the price of an average detergent. As with any product, there are cheaper and more expensive alternatives. For example, if you order 6 boxes at the same time, you only pay CHF 0.26 per wash.

  • 20Are the bluu wash strips "zero-waste"?
    • That depends on the definition. The fact is that the wash strips dissolve in water (biodegradability) and the packaging is 100% recyclable. There is no plastic whatsoever, neither in the product nor in the packaging. We ship individual orders in a 100% compostable shipping bag.

  • 21Are the bluu wash strips gluten-free?
    • Yes, our wash strips are gluten-free.

  • 22Are the bluu wash strips vegan?
    • As our wash strips are neither made from animal ingredients nor tested on animals, we call them "vegan friendly" with a clear conscience.

  • 23What does the Dermatest seal mean?
    • The Dermatest seal confirms that our cleansing strips do not cause any intolerance to sensitive skin. The strips have been dermatologically tested and awarded a "very good" rating by medical specialists. You can find out exactly how this is tested here.

  • 24What is the difference between "Alpenfrische", "Applecadabra" and "nonscents"?
    • The "Alpenfrische" and "Applecadabra" variants offer a long-lasting fragrance in your laundry thanks to fragrances in addition to the "nonscents" variant. The washing performance is identical for both washing strips.

  • 25What is the shelf life of bluu wash strips?
    • The bluu wash strips should be used within 3 years. They will retain their washing power and fragrance until then.

  • 26How should I imagine the fragrance "Alpenfrische"?
    • The bluu wash strips have a fresh, natural fragrance that reminds us of a morning hike in the Swiss Alps :-). If you prefer it without fragrance, the "nonscents" variant is the right one for you.

  • 27Where are the bluu wash strips produced?
    • The "Applecadabra" and "nonscents" wash strips are manufactured in Spain. The "Alpenfrische" variant is produced by a selected supplier in China. Our supplier recognizes amfori's BSCI Code of Conduct and is committed to enforcing the requirements for itself and its suppliers and constantly improving. However, we not only look for the greatest possible sustainability in the product, but also in the transport, so we normally organize this by rail to Switzerland.

  • 28Were the wash strips tested on animals?
    • No way! Our wash strips are vegan-friendly and do not contain any animal products. The ingredients have not been tested on animals.

  • 29Is bluu stain remover soap vegan?
    • Our stain remover soap is 100% vegan and lovingly made with sustainable ingredients in a traditional German company. It is free from fragrances and colorants, making it gentle on textiles and skin.

  • 30On which textiles can bluu stain remover soap be used?
    • bluu stain remover soap is particularly suitable for use on cotton, linen, blended fabrics and synthetic textiles.

  • 31What are the ingredients of bluu stain remover soap?
    • Traditional products often still contain animal ingredients. For example, gall soap contains parts of bovine bile. In our stain remover soap, we completely dispense with animal ingredients and use high-quality, plant-based ingredients such as olive oil from Greece and soapwort from the Alps. As a result, we not only achieve a good washing result, but also a good result for our blue planet.

  • 32What is the best way to use bluu Stain Soap?
    • Moisten stains with water, rub in gently with the stain remover and leave to work for a few minutes. Wash in the washing machine or by hand according to the fabric care instructions with bluu
      washing strips.

  • 33For which stains can I use bluu stain soap?
    • bluu stain remover soap is suitable for use on cotton, linen, blended fabrics and synthetic textiles.

  • 34What is soapwort and how does it work in stain remover soap?
    • Our stain remover soap contains common soapwort (Saponaria officinalis) from the Alps. The woody roots of the delicate soapwort flower contain detergent substances which, when combined with water, create a slightly foaming soap solution that cleans the laundry in a completely natural way, making it particularly gentle on the skin and the environment.

  • 35What are the ingredients of the floor cleaner strips?
    • While conventional floor cleaners often contain microplastics, environmentally harmful chemicals and animal fats, bluu floor cleaner strips are completely free of microplastics, biodegradable and vegan. Our floor cleaner strips consist of anionic and non-ionic surfactants, fatty alcohols, water-soluble salt and water.

  • 36How do you use the floor cleaner strips?
    • Fill a bucket with 3 - 5 liters of lukewarm water, dissolve a strip of floor cleaner in it and off you go with the mopping fun!

  • 37Do the floor cleaner strips contain harmful chemicals or microplastics?
    • No. Our bluu floor cleaner strips are biodegradable and 100% plastic-free. We are proud of that!

  • 38Are the floor cleaner strips vegan?
    • Yes, our floor cleaner strips are absolutely free from animal ingredients and are therefore 100% vegan.

  • 39On which surfaces can the floor cleaner strips be used?
    • The bluu floor cleaner strips are an all-in-one solution - they can be used on all sealed floors without hesitation! However, we recommend following the floor manufacturer's cleaning instructions.

  • 40What are the advantages of the floor cleaner strips being pH-neutral?
    • Our floor cleaner has a pH value of 7 and is therefore a neutral cleaner. Neutral cleaners have the advantage that they are suitable for almost all surfaces, are gentle on materials and are therefore also suitable for sensitive floors. The pH-neutral formula is not only gentle on materials, but also on the skin. Neutral cleaners are also superior to all other cleaners in terms of their environmental properties.

  • 41Does the EccoClean cover of the calcbusters need to be opened for use?
    • No, the pads are placed unopened in the main detergent compartment (II).

  • 42Do all the pads of the calcbusters dissolve during use?
    • Yes, the cover dissolves completely in the washing machine.

  • 43Why is the descaler in a case?
    • The cover prevents direct skin contact with the descaler when using the calcbusters.

  • 44What are the advantages of calcbusters over other descaling agents?
    • Due to the inorganic acid, the calcbusters are up to 6x stronger and up to 10x more effective in terms of descaling time than other descaling agents. The cellulose coating prevents the descaler from coming into contact with the skin.

  • 45How does limescale form and why does the washing machine need to be descaled?
    • Water contains calcium and magnesium ions as well as various minerals, which can lead to limescale deposits when water is heated. The harder the water, the higher the concentration of dissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium ions. With hard water, the potential for the formation of limescale deposits is correspondingly higher. As water is heated in every washing machine, regular descaling is necessary! The dosage of detergent also plays a role: if the detergent is over- or underdosed, this encourages the formation of limescale deposits. The bluu washing strips are optimally formulated and already pre-dosed, they help to minimize limescale deposits in the washing machine. For thorough cleaning and descaling of your washing machine, we recommend using the bluu calcbusters every 1-3 months: Once a month for hard water and every 2-3 months for soft water. The calcbusters reliably remove limescale deposits and ensure an efficient, hygienic washing machine. This ensures that you continue to get the desired washing results and extends the life of your washing machine.

  • 46What is amidosulfonic acid in the calcbusters?
    • Amidosulfonic acid is an inorganic acid which, in contrast to citric acid, is approx. 10 times more effective in terms of descaling time and is up to 6 times more effective than other descaling agents.

  • 47What is the difference between calcbusters and descaling tabs?
    • Descaling tabs do not remove limescale, but primarily combat unpleasant odors. The bleaching agent contained in the tabs is intended to combat bacteria. However, as the bacteria reside in the limescale nests, they can only be effectively combated if the limescale is also removed. In addition, the descaling tabs usually have to be handled unprotected by competitors.

Our calcbusters remove limescale deposits and therefore also combat bacteria and unpleasant odors.

  • 48Are the calcbusters biodegradable?
    • Whether the calcbusters are biodegradable depends heavily on the descaling process. Depending on the amount of limescale in the washing machine, the acid may or may not be neutralized. If there is not enough limescale in the machine, the acid cannot be properly neutralized and therefore cannot really be biodegraded.

  • 49Does the silvertrooper really work?
    • Yes, it actually works! Silver ions released into the water have the ability to kill bacteria. These bacteria are often responsible for unpleasant odors. As the silvertrooper eliminates the bacteria, the decomposition products that cause the sweat odor are also reduced. The result is that unpleasant odors are avoided as there are no bacteria present to cause the odor. The strong antibacterial effect of the product on washed laundry has been confirmed by a recognized testing institute.

  • 50Does the silvertrooper replace a 90° / 60° wash?
    • The silvertrooper makes it possible to reduce the wash temperature by 20°. This means that a 90° wash can be replaced by a 70° wash and a 60° wash by a 40° wash.

      Recommendation:
Delivery rhythm - single household = every 3 months

immer wieder begeistert

Für mich stimmt das Konzept: Kein Plastik, Waschestreifen anstelle Tab Pulver oder Flüssig, saubere Wäsche, guter Duft.... 👌🏼
